Preparation
Prepare a few fun songwriting structures: call-and-response chorus, one-word-at-a-time lyric line, theme jar, two-choice voting, or style switch.
Step-by-step
- 1Choose a topic together, such as friendship, camp, Shabbat, rain, snacks, the group name, or an inside joke.
- 2Create one simple repeated chorus line that the whole group can sing easily.
- 3Use two-choice voting to keep decisions moving quickly.
- 4Build one or two short verses using participant suggestions.
- 5Sing the chorus after every new line so the group keeps hearing the song take shape.
- 6Try one fun option: each person adds one word, the group pulls a random theme, or the chorus becomes call-and-response.
- 7To make it longer, add a bridge, a rhythm break, or small-group verses.
- 8To make it more challenging, sing the same chorus in different styles, such as lullaby, rock anthem, march, dramatic ballad, or whisper chorus.
