Preparation

Choose a song the group knows. Privately remove several words and label each blank as noun, verb, object, place, emotion, person, adjective, or silly sound.

Step-by-step

  1. 1Do not reveal the song title yet.
  2. 2Ask the group for words that match each blank, such as a noun, verb, object, place, emotion, person, adjective, or silly sound.
  3. 3Fill in the blanks with the group's words.
  4. 4Reveal the song and explain that the group has created a new version.
  5. 5Sing the funny version together.
  6. 6If the group wants, sing the original chorus afterward to bring everyone back together.
  7. 7To make it longer, split into teams and let each team create a different version of the same song.
  8. 8To make it more challenging, ask for words that still fit the rhythm or rhyme of the original line.
