Preparation
Prepare a few simple scenes, such as setting up camp, walking into a party, waiting for a bus, or finding a lost backpack. Prepare music moods like happy, scary, sad, silly, dramatic, calm, or heroic.
Step-by-step
- 1Choose two to four participants to act out a simple everyday scene.
- 2Start with neutral or happy background music.
- 3After 20-30 seconds, change the music mood.
- 4The actors keep the same basic scene but change their voices, movement, pace, and emotions to match the new music.
- 5Switch the music several times so the scene becomes happy, scary, sad, silly, dramatic, or calm.
- 6Rotate in new actors and a new scene.
- 7To make it longer, let the audience suggest the next music mood before each switch.
- 8To make it more challenging, ask the actors to keep the same exact line of dialogue while changing only tone, movement, and timing.
